Standardisation of internal building areas and location data
In the standardisation of internal building areas and location data project, the focus is on standardising internal building location data in Building Information Models. The work defines how the locations of building elements, materials and products are identified using spaces, space groups, storeys and zones, and how this information is recorded in the information model so that it can be used consistently for different purposes and at different project stages. The aim is to ensure that every space within a building can be individually identified, and that the location of building elements within those spaces can be defined and processed unambiguously using BIM-based data.
The project is the first project under the RYTV programme to be launched with funding from the joint Digitalisation of the Built Environment project (RYD).
The Digitalisation of the Built Environment (RYD) project is the largest digitalisation project to date in the real estate and construction sector. The project lays the foundation for standardised, interoperable and machine-readable information. The aim is to identify concrete ways to support work both on construction sites and in offices, and to improve productivity, quality and customer experience across the entire value chain.
Steering group
The project is governed by the buildingSMART Finland Building Domain Core Group. The group monitors progress, reviews key decisions, and ensures the quality and interoperability of the outputs as part of the national standardisation effort.
