Built environment BIM requirements part A

A unified and updatable RYTV framework that brings together the requirements of different sectors and enables machine readability and automated quality assurance.

The Built Environment BIM Requirements (RYTV) aim to integrate fragmented guidelines and requirements from different sectors, such as building construction, infrastructure and city modelling, into a unified framework. Current guidelines are partly outdated and fail to address new demands such as circular economy, carbon footprint calculation and upcoming construction legislation.

The project defines the structure, content and categorisation of the RYTV framework and establishes principles for distinguishing between human-readable and machine-readable content. The work enables the creation of digital, updatable and quality-assured BIM requirements and guidance for all sectors.

The first phase focuses on mapping the current situation, identifying use cases and defining the key principles and roadmap for subsequent phases. Later phases will produce the first RYTV publication and systematically develop the framework as part of the RYTV Publication Platform.

The result is a consistent and modular requirements framework that supports both human- and machine-readable materials, reduces interpretation errors and improves data quality and interoperability. This enables more efficient and economically sustainable use of BIM across the construction sector.
