Annina Lehikoinen, MSc Technology & Architecture, has started as the new CEO of Building Information Model Ltd on 1 October 2021. In the new role she will answer for buildingSMART Finland’s network operations and standardization work related to BIM in Finland.
“Seamless digitalization of the built environment benefits the whole society and I’m heading that way with great enthusiasm and cooperation. My education background is in civil engineering and architecture with a sustainable development aspect. I have been working with the built urban environment for 14 years and I find developing the built environment together with networking to be the best possible challenge”, Lehikoinen says.
“For the last three years I was working for the City of Helsinki as project manager in the Crown Bridges Light Rail project and directing BIM based design. So far, the development I have experienced during my career is still small compared to the potential that exists in the digitalization through standardization”, Lehikoinen continues.
Founding Building Information Model Ltd and launching the CEO recruitment in early 2021 is a part of longer-term change to increase resources in BIM standardization work and grow the buildingSMART network. “Annina has a strong background in BIM from working at the City of Helsinki and therefore she has excellent basis to advance BIM related standardization in the whole field of the built environment”, comments Markku Hedman, the chair of the Building Information Model Ltd board.
